Planning is underway for an exciting 2019 - 2020 Sunday School year. We will be using a NEW lectionary-based curriculum this year called “Feasting on the Word.” This user-friendly program includes great activities and even a CD with songs!
The Sunday School Calendar has been structured to not have class during long weekends or school vacations. If we have enough volunteers, we are planning to split the students into two groups, preK - 2 and 3 - 5. Middle School students are welcome to be a part of Sunday School too! They will have the opportunity to participate in baking, crafting, and service-based activities.
As you look at the calendar for the upcoming Sunday School year, I ask that you consider the following quote while you pray about becoming involved:
“A hundred years from now it will not matter
what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove …
but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.”
~ Forest E. Witcraft
The Sunday School Calendar has been divided into 5 sessions that need teachers. We encourage you to find a partner and let us know which session you are interested in teaching. You will be provided with a curriculum to follow and the basic supplies you will need. If there are any special materials you need, please let us know. Please volunteer to share your time and talent with the youth of the parish.
It is vital that we provide children with a supportive faith community.
If you have any questions, call the church office or email the Sunday School Director, Dianne Nicols at office@standrewshanover.org

Outreach
Outreach is also an important component to the program, as it helps our youth to apply the principles they learn to real life situations. The children are offered opportunities to help others on local, national and international levels. Past outreach recipients have included the Hanover food pantry, a local shelter for troubled adolescents, St. Paul’s kitchen, Hurricane Katrina victims and Project Heifer.
Activities & Events
Each year the children have opportunities to participate in additional activities and events here at St. Andrew’s, which provide fun while building a sense of fellowship. They can count on an Ice Cream Social on Registration Sunday, a Christmas pageant, a field trip to the Stations of the Cross at the Cardinal Cushing Center, an Easter egg hunt and Recognition Sunday at the end of the church school year.
